The name
SUDDEN GUSH
was thought of by a group of girl friends in junior high in Kostka School. Since most were musically inclined and were into singing, they had the crazy idea of coming out with an all-girl band.
Eekee, who had been playing the guitar for some time, was the lead guitarist. Maymay, who is also into guitars became their bassist. Shasha became the drummer of the band since she knew only the basics. And while Mishy played the piano, Christine took the mic and became the lead vocalist.

They were all serious with the idea of having their own band, so they thought hard of a name to call group. They brainstormed for ideas until they have decided to carry the name
SUDDEN GUSH, that they uniquely identify with being girls.
They had practice sessions in Powerchords, a recording studio near their school every friday after school. They would play songs like Cool Ka Lang by Prettier than Pink; Ode to My Family and Zombie by the Cranberries, and more have it all recorded. They were definitely very proud of themselves. Playing in school programs even crossed their minds but all of them knew they weren't ready at all. Having a band for them was just for the fun of it, just for kicks. Eventhough it was experimental, they all had fun. They became more bonded than ever before. With or without the band, the name just stuck with them.
SUDDEN GUSH is one of the best things that ever happened to them that still remains to be cherished up to now.

Eekee and Christine have known each other long way back when they were in Assumption in Makati. Eekee was in grade 3 and Christine was in grade 2. When Christine transferred to Kostka School as an incoming grade 6 student, Eekee went on and graduated her grade school years in Assumption.
When Eekee transferred to Kostka as a freshman, she was very surprised to see Christine. Actually, they both were. Who knew? In fact, they belong to the same AM section, 1B, where in they both met Maymay. At that time, Shasha was also a transferee from Holy Spirit School, but was in the afternoon class. Eekee, Christine and Maymay were inseparable. In fact, they became classmates again when they were in their sophomore year.

Since AM and PM sessions have the same lunch breaks, the four met and became friends eventually. But it was in their junior year, when they became close. Maymay and
Christine belonged to the same section, 3A, while Eekee and Shasha were in 3C. It was in 3C when they met a transferee from Brent Baguio, Mishy. Eekee, being so hospitable, invited Mishy to join them every recess and lunch breaks. The bonding the five girls have continued every dismissal time when they would rather go home late from school. Stories about their crushes, classroom jokes and big laughs are often exchanged every afternoon. They'd even play volleyball, patintero and touch ball - just like kids.
Nothing much has changed when they were in their senior year. Even they were from different sections, they still sit on the same table. They met a new girl, Michelle, who can be as funny as she is. It's like, she was the added spice to the friendship that made it more solid. They eat, joke, laugh and cry together. When someone is down, the rest pull her up. They share their problems, failures, doubts, uncertainties and personal issues. That's how open they are up until now. |

...that Mishy would always bring her colorful organizer every breaktime?
...that everytime Eekee sneezes, it sounds like a cat?
...that Michelle makes a funny impersonation
of a goldfish?
...that Maymay can dance on the spot when you sing
to her a danceable song?
